Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has once again talked about removing old polluting vehicles from the roads.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that all such old government vehicles which cause pollution will be scrapped.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said all vehicles older than 15 years will be removed. Government ambulances that cause pollution will also be removed.
Nirmala Sitharaman said, "Replacing polluting vehicles is an important part of our green economy."
“Necessary funds have been earmarked for the scrapping of old central government vehicles to take forward the vehicle scrapping policy outlined in Budget 2021-22.
The government has extended customs duty exemption on the import of goods and machinery required for the manufacture of lithium-ion cells for batteries used in electric vehicles.
The Finance Minister said that the rate of basic customs duty on goods other than textiles and agriculture has been proposed to be reduced from 21 to 13.
As a result, there will be marginal changes in basic customs duty, cess, and surcharge on certain items including toys, bicycles, cycles, and vehicles.
