Jeep Commander Price in India: This is the season of three-row SUVs. Over this year we’ve witnessed the arrival of the Tata Safari, MG Hector plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and new Mahindra XUV700, and they’re soon going to be a new addition to the list. Jeep has taken the wraps off its three-row compass derivative. The SUV has been shown in Brazil and will go on sale there as the Jeep commander. However, the model for India will likely sport the meridian name. For now, we’ll stick to the commander’s name. Over this article will tell you all we know about the interesting new Jeep.

As mentioned, the commander is a derivative of the compass we’re all familiar with. However, it’s not merely a compass with a third-row long pin. The commander is a larger vehicle, its 4769-millimeter length makes it a substantial 364 millimeters longer than the compass and the wheelbase is 158 millimeters larger as well. 

The dimensions are in line with the Volkswagen Tiguan all space and Skoda kodiaq that the commander will go up against. Jeep has also made an effort to ensure the commander doesn’t simply appear as a stretched compass either. The front end has been redone. The traditional seven slide Jeep grille is the centerpiece but the headlights are slimmer and come embellished by metallics around that sort of gives the appearance of a raised eyebrow.

The bonnet is different and even the front bumper is completely new. The squared-out wheel arches have been carried on to the commander with larger 19-inch alloy wheels on offer here. However, the commander does get a more upmarket suede finish on the dash and the seats also sport a leather and suede gumbo. It said the back that the commander distinguishes itself. The commander’s middle row seats get a recline function and can also be slid back by 114 millimeters for maximizing legroom. A six-seat version with individual chairs could be in the pipeline.

As for the third-row seating for two and the seats feature or recline function as well. AC vans and USB charging slots are some of the amenities for third-row occupants. With all seats up, the commander offers 233 liters of luggage room. folding the 5050 split third-row down gives 661 liters and you can also full the 6040 split middle row seats to free up as much as 1760 liters.

The commander or meridian as it will be called in India will set above the compass in the Jeeps lineup, and as in Brazil, it’s expected that the India range will start in well-equipped Limited trim.

New to the commander is an overland trim that gets all that the fully loaded compass gets and then some more, full LED headlights, powered front seats, a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connected tech, a wireless phone charger, digital dials, a panoramic sunroof and apart tailgate with a hands-free boot release are some of the features you can expect. A Harman Kardon sound system could also make it here.

The safety suite will include seven airbags, ESC, a 360-degree camera, and more. Jeep could also bring adas stick on the model for India. The Brazil spec commander has debuted with adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and Park Assist among other features.

The Jeep Commander has debuted with two engine options for the specification for India will be slightly different from the Brazilian model. We’ll get the two-liter diesel engine but power will be up from the current 173 horsepower to around 200 horsepower.

There is no word on a manual gearbox version as yat but jeeps nine-speed torque converter auto that brings in 4*4 will be on offer. Truth the Jeep DNA the commander will have a degree of off-road ability, terrain modes, and hill descent control will be part of the package.    notably, the Brazil spec model has an unladen ground clearance of 212 millimeters. The India spec model should get a petrol engine as well, but at the moment it’s unclear if the compass cut into 1.4-liter turbo petrol will be used on the larger and heavier SUV.

jeeps three-row SUV has been spotted testing in India multiple times over the past few months. However, the model is still some time away from going on sale and is likely to arrive in Jeep showrooms only by mid-2022. The SUV will be pitched as a premium product and there will be little overlap with the compass in terms of price. We expect the Jeep meridian as it’s likely to be called to come in at 30 to 35 lakh rupees (x-showroom).
