Honda launches new Shine 100 in India, know the price and features

Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda has launched its new Shine 100 bike in India at a starting price of Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This makes the Shine 100 the most affordable Honda bike in India.

New Honda Shine 100: Design

Honda has used an all-new diamond frame specially developed for the Shine 100. The bike has a short wheelbase of 1245 mm, seat height of 786 mm and ground clearance of 168 mm, which makes it a ride-friendly bike. Makes for a comfortable bike to ride and is capable of tackling rough roads.

New Honda Shine 100: Engine

The new Shine 100 is powered by an all-new air-cooled, 99.7cc, single-cylinder engine that delivers 7.6hp and 8.05Nm at 6,000rpm, figures similar to its competition like the Hero. The engine is optimized to provide “high fuel efficiency” while being OBD-2 compliant and capable of running on E20 fuel.

New Honda Shine 100: Features and Colors

The Shine 100 comes with halogen headlights, side-stand inhibitors, and an integrated braking system. It is available in five color options, including red, blue, green, gold and a black base with gray stripes.

Additionally, the Shine 100 has a fuel pump on the outside of the fuel tank for ease of repair, as well as an auto-choke function, which makes sure it stays on no matter the ambient temperature.

New Honda Shine 100: Competitors

In terms of competition, the Honda Shine 100 will go up against the likes of Hero MotoCorp’s HF 100, HF Deluxe, Splendor+ and Splendor+ XTEC, all of which are priced between Rs 54,962 to Rs 75,840. Bajaj has only one entrant in this category, the Platina 100, which is priced at Rs 67,475. With a starting price of Rs 64,900, the Honda Shine 100 sits right in the middle of the pack in the 100cc space in India.

The basic 100cc bike segment makes up around 35% of total two-wheeler sales in India, and the Shine 100 will be an important product for Honda in India. The company currently has a 3.5 percent share in rural areas, and with Shine 100, it aims to increase this. Bookings for the new Shine 100 have already started, and production is set to begin next month, with deliveries scheduled to begin in May 2023.
